Frequently asked questions
How does this PPF calculator / public provident fund calculator work?
Enter yearly contribution, tenure (up to 15 years, extendable) and an illustrative PPF rate to estimate maturity. Figures are not a government guarantee of future rates.
What is the PPF lock-in?
PPF has a 15-year tenure with limited partial withdrawals after year 7, subject to scheme rules current at the time.
What happens if I skip a PPF deposit in a year?
The account turns inactive but keeps earning interest on the balance. You can revive it by depositing the ₹500 minimum for each missed year plus a small penalty per year of default.
Can I extend my PPF account after 15 years?
Yes-indefinitely, in blocks of 5 years, with or without fresh contributions. The balance continues to earn the notified rate throughout.
