Frequently asked questions
What tax benefit does NPS offer?
Under the old regime, NPS contributions fit within the ₹1.5 lakh 80C limit, plus an extra deduction of up to ₹50,000 under Section 80CCD(1B). Employer contributions may also qualify under 80CCD(2)-verify current rules with your CA.
Can I withdraw my entire NPS corpus at 60?
Generally at least 40% must be used to buy an annuity; the rest can be withdrawn as a lumpsum, subject to rules in force. Small corpora may qualify for full withdrawal-check the latest PFRDA norms.
Are NPS returns guaranteed?
No. NPS is market-linked across equity, corporate debt and government securities. Returns vary with the funds and allocation you choose.
